Property Details
DESCRIPTION
A partially linked period cottage, originally part of an adjoining country house (Fyfield House) which was previously owned by Toby Balding, a well known racehorse trainer, whose jockeys, we understand, used to reside in White Cottage. The property is constructed of mainly brick with some red cedar clad elevations beneath a slate roof. The beautifully presented accommodation comprises a light and airy reception hall with cloakroom, a nicely proportioned drawing room with fireplace housing a wood burning stove, a separate dual aspect study/playroom and an excellent open plan kitchen/dining room (this was refitted within the last year and features ‘Travertine’ flooring and solid beech work surfaces). On the first there are three well proportioned bedrooms as well as a large luxury bathroom with contemporary ‘Duravit’ sanitaryware. Outside there is off-road parking and well enclosed gardens on three sides of the cottage incorporating an attractive courtyard area.
LOCATION
The property is situated within a Conservation Area in the village of Fyfield, some four miles to the east of Andover. There is a garage/shop, a public house and popular restaurant in the nearby village of Weyhill, just two miles distant, as well as country pubs in Appleshaw and Thruxton. Andover offers a comprehensive range of shopping, educational and leisure facilities, as well as a mainline railway station providing fast services to Waterloo. The A303 is close at hand allowing convenient road access to London and the West Country. The cathedral cities of Salisbury and Winchester are both within about half and hour’s drive, as is Basingstoke.
