Little London, Andover, SP11

A substantial detached period house offering excellent family accommodation

Property Details

DESCRIPTION

A handsome detached period house, believed to date back to the 1700s, constructed of mainly brick/flint elevations under a tiled roof.  The present owners have lived in the house some nineteen years and have carried out some significant improvements.  The accommodation includes three receptions rooms (all with fireplaces), a large ‘Shaston’ kitchen/breakfast room with extensive range of units and a large basement which is currently used as a studio (ideal perhaps as a playroom/games room for those with children). On the first floor there are five double bedrooms, one with a large en suite bathroom with white suite.  In addition there is also a large family bathroom.  The property benefits from oil fired central heating.  We understand that the property was once a Blacksmiths and public house (called The Horse and Jockey) fronting the road that used to lead to the nearby village of Stoke.  We also understand that Little London has been selected for a pilot scheme introducing high speed Broadband to rural areas.

Agent's Note:  The original photograph (the date that it was taken is unfortunately not known) of the ‘Little London Friendly Society’ who helped the needy standing outside the property when it was The Horse and Jockey

LOCATION

Little London is situated three miles north of Andover and is in a quiet rural location in an area renowned for its natural beauty.  It is surrounded by undulating countryside and beautiful woodland walks on the edge of the village.  The village also has its own playing field and play equipment.  The neighbouring village of Smannell, less than one mile away, has a popular primary school, public house and church, all within walking distance.  There are mainline stations at Andover, Whitchurch (6 miles) and Newbury (12 miles) all with fast services to either London Waterloo or Paddington.  Excellent road access is available with the M3, M4 and A303 all within easy reach.
