Property Details

DESCRIPTION

A picturesque period cottage (attached, one of four) constructed of whitewashed rendered elevations under a thatched roof (totally rethatched in 1997, and  re-ridged in 2009).  The cottage, believed to have originally been two dwellings, offers spacious accommodation including a charming sitting room with two inglenook fireplaces, window seats and numerous exposed beams and timbers, a separate dining room (with inglenook fireplace and inset Alpha range) with an open entrance leading into the kitchen fitted with craftsman built oak units and slate work surfaces.  Glazed double doors lead into an Amdega conservatory, which enjoys stunning views over the garden.  There is also a bathroom on the ground floor. To the first floor there is a master bedroom with en suite bathroom, a guest bedroom with en suite shower room, and a door leading to a third bedroom/landing (which is also approached via a second staircase from the sitting room).

The large south facing mature landscaped garden with its ornamental pond and waterfall is a delightful feature of the property and amounts to approximately one third of an acre.  Within the grounds there is also a recently constructed office/studio which could be used as an occasional guest bedroom if so required.

Agent’s Note:  An enchanting character cottage set in delightful gardens.   Internal viewing is highly recommended.
(Some of the photographs in the brochure have been taken in the summer months)

LOCATION

The cottage is set well back from Skew Lane, opposite farmland, on the edge of the picturesque hamlet of Quarley, which has a fine 13th Century Norman church, village hall and bus service.  The neighbouring village of Grateley, about 1½ miles away, offers a Post Office/store, primary school, public house and railway station providing fast services to London.  The cathedral cities of Salisbury and Winchester are both within approximately half an hour’s drive and the A303 is close at hand allowing convenient access to London and the West Country.  For those who enjoy walking and riding etc, there are many country walks nearby with good out-riding throughout the Test Valley area.
